Growing American Importer
Expansion to South America outgrew their in-office servers overnight. A cloud-first rebuild gave every region fast, secure access to the same systems.
When this growing American importer opened its first South American operations, the limits of an office-bound server room showed up immediately: file transfers that took seconds in New York took minutes in Bogotá, the VPN concentrator saturated daily, and new-hire onboarding meant shipping laptops north for imaging.
The expansion plan called for doubling headcount across two continents — on infrastructure designed for one office.
“We stopped planning the business around what the server room could handle. Now the infrastructure follows the growth, not the other way around.”
The approach
Workload & latency assessment
Measured real user latency per site and per workload, then prioritized what had to move first: file services, the SQL-backed inventory system, and identity.
Multi-region cloud design
Azure environment with region pairing (East US primary, Brazil South presence) so South American staff hit nearby endpoints; Entra ID became the single identity plane with MFA and Conditional Access by country.
Migration & remote workspaces
Servers, VPN, SQL environment, and file storage moved to Azure; Azure Virtual Desktop gave every region an identical, centrally-managed workspace — a new hire in São Paulo is productive the same day, no laptop shipping.
Security & steady-state
Endpoint security policies, web services and spam protection, automated backups, and disaster recovery — with NetSys providing continuing monitoring and active response across time zones.
- Azure region pairing (East US / Brazil South)
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Azure SQL
- Azure Files + File Sync
- Entra ID + Conditional Access
- Multifactor Authentication
- Endpoint security policies
- Spam & web protection
- Automated cloud backups
- Disaster recovery replication
The results
Measured during business hours over a two-week window before and after migration.
